We have stopped to rest, in truth I am rather glad for the reprieve of travel,I find myself very tired, more tired than I ever have been on the trail before. I know there are repairs I need to get done on my wagon, but I have not yet really inspected them closely I will do that later, right now I just want to not move, and just do nothing, but unfortunately that is not the case.
I have not seen Hallie for a few days as she has been busy with the kailla. My youngest son I saw him with some other children taking advantage of the stop. Arkus I have not seen and now that I think of it I have not seen Falon either. My youngest son is more than likely hanging around Chulun to see what he can get into.
I decided to go to the fires and get some food and rest for a bit. I had some stew which after a while you do get tired of having no matter how good or in some cases how less than good it is, depending on who made it. Tonight I was hungry so it was either really good, or it was just the fact I was starving. As I ate I looked to the skies and watched the moons, I thought back to the other night when the year keeper sat with us all for a while. I have noticed he has a great deal of patience with not only prospects but the younger ones of the tribe. A few had decided to clean up along the embankment of the stream, and well that year keeper I do think that he shocked a few of the women, I found it rather amusing myself but then I have brothers and have had several mates and worked as a physician so one naked body is just the same as another. But the blushes and averting of eyes that I saw filled me with amusement, as year keeper stripped and walked to the stream stark ass naked, well of course I looked. What woman wouldn't, I can still admire the form of a man, I am far from blind. We enjoyed the teasing of the young ones, oh I just really did find it very funny.
Though I have a feeling more than a few were disappointed to not see Fonce do the same, I just grinned, I don't think I will tell them I have seen him without his pants, rather up close and personal, you have to be to stitch a mans leg after all, and I sure am not telling. Well, I could and then I could embellish and create a really cool story, but he would kick my ass for that, and well no I don't think I would enjoy that all that much. However, once they were settled and had black wine and food, Cana wanted Fonce to give the year keeper his age, now this I found curious, and my curiosity was rewarded when the year keeper began to speak of what moon he was born of, now the one he gave Fonce, I had to think on this, it seemed to be very suited to him, he gave the moons to a few of the others, and we even had him give us fathers, oh yes, he definitely had father down, that fit him perfectly. He spoke of various thing ones being tradition, they spoke of vague traditions, but I noticed how they skipped over other ones, and I am not sure why, it is my thought if you follow one, you have to follow them all there can be no selective following of them, and there are some that have not been followed in quite a long time, but the fact there is a move to return to them, I take as a good sign.
After some time when the crowd of people thinned out, I asked him of when Kamchaks daughter Hallena was born, now I saw the confusion on Cana's face, I knew she was trying to figure it out. And at first he gave me the answer, I had to laugh he asked me if I really wanted them to know my age and he called me by my true name, I am not ashamed of my age, I think I have aged rather well and given I take care of myself on all levels of life I feel I am in pretty damn good shape. The shock on Cana's face was priceless, and when she got it, she laughed and called me a sneak, well, there was never a good time to reveal such, and as it was it just sort of came up then, there are many things I would share but there is never really the right moment, unless I am asked specifically, then he explained which time I was born, I found that rather interesting, the night of three stars. I did explain to Cana why my father gave me a name to hide myself under, for protection. The year keeper spoke of the time when he and the clan sent me away for my protection, he knew of this, I wonder also if he might have known my mother and a few others that I am curious of, there is one in particular the one that no one speaks of the one that still causes every spex to shudder and look behind them.
It was a nice relaxing night with others by the fire, somehow we got on the subject of racing, I meant kaiila racing, but now it seems we are talking about running, well I can run pretty darn fast, father used to set up obstacles and after a few times of getting caught and ending the day with bruises and abrasions I learned to run, I also learned how to hide and elude people, now that I was very good at, I even shocked Brutus once in his arrogance he thought I could not hide from him, he forgot what my father taught me, and I revealed to him how I could hide and be right next to him. I was rather proud of myself, though I am out of practice how. I have a wager with the year keeper, the looser gets to prepare a meal, I wonder if I should let him think I cannot cook. It should be interesting, I am curious of his age, I noticed the gnarling of his one hand, that is something that comes sometimes from injury and sometimes from age. And he isn't telling, so maybe there will be more wagers on this.
