I have spent many ahns within the clan continuing to work on various rituals we have set for different times and over seeing those that I have asked to teach specific people, in fact we have a night soon that is just for us to enjoy and savor with each other, this is also when we allow those that are still walking the outer circle to join us those of us that have walked all of them. These are things that unless of the clan no one would know about. Nor will I or others speak of them to anyone because this is something we that is not revealed. We have many secrets and some are oath bond and when broken there are various tools and information that will turn against the one that has done such just as we have no slaves of our clan if one submits their abilities can be blocked and never again are they allowed to utilize them because once you do that you are no longer one of us. Plain and simple. We are Tuchuk after all and what Tuchuk woman submits to a collar they would sooner die.
I have been asked to teach a new prospect Noelani, I have heard various things, none of which would be possible given it would go against our ways and we are not red savages we do not adopt the ways of other people. None the less, I agreed that I would see what she was like and see if I thought she could learn, I watched her by the stream, I did not really interact I was there simply to observe her to see what I could learn of her. As I learn much of a person from every day things they did, I was glad to see that she at least at the moment did not do anything spex related in a very public place like that. Although we are tempted more than once it is not something we do. That is not to say not a one of us have not done so at one time or another, but the punishment for it usually makes us think long and hard on it. If we do something outside of the clan it is because there is danger to another and we have no choice but most times in public we try to do things in a subtle way, unseen and unknown and if known by one it is not spoken of. It is an understanding.
There are some that are flamboyant but it is their choice, we have no true feeling on it as it is simply a choice of some to give show, but it is not who we are, and if attention is given to them it keeps it from the rest of us. These are the ones that are taught by those with no ethics,discipline or heart. She is very young in many ways, not just in mind and body. She reminded me of an innocent child fascinated by everything around her, that alone reveals she has not been tainted by the hardships of life, were we all once so naive and innocent about life. I think as we pass a certain age,that when we watch someone like this it strikes us even more that we have lost that along the path of life.
The other prospect a leather worker Yamka was there also, I only briefly paid her attention she was not the reason I was there but I observe everyone about me out of habit. There is something I have noticed about her, she relies to heavily on what her father says, his words, his thoughts, and she relies on the thoughts of others to much as well. It is as if she has no free thought of her own, she will have to learn to step out from the shadows of others and stand on her own two feet if she wishes to make it as part of this tribe. We have been testing her, I have yet to really push her but I intend to, I want to see what she is made of. After all we have seen to many weak tuchuks in this tribe that have shown their true hearts and souls. It is my thought if you are of the outer wagons seeking your place of the first you should already have a basic knowledge of things and I have seen she does not, and I know they do not teach any different in the outer wagons than they do of the first, so why then do so many come so ill equipped. Do they think they can waltz up and just be accepted, no I am harder on them than outsiders, because outsiders have an excuse they weren't born and raised on the plains.
I will be seeking out this young Noelani, and see where I wish to begin her studies. I hope she has what it takes as I do not often teach any myself any more as I have had more responsibility within the clan, keeping things going and making sure old ways are not lost. So if I agree to teach anyone, everyone knows that I am tough but yet I am fair, if you show me you have the heart and soul of a spex, even if you do not get it at first, I have an infinite amount of patience, I may be harsh and expect a lot but I am fair, and others of the tribe know that if I agree I do not want special treatment given they are to push them and test them, they let me know how others act when I am not there to observe them, I have learned much of people by how they are with others of the tribe.
And I do not ask of others what I myself would not do or have done. You cant teach what you do not know or what you have never experienced, that is the advantage of my age. Experience.
